The role: 

As a result of organic business growth in the last 12 months, we are expanding our legal team and looking for someone to join us based in our Canberra office. 

Working with both the Senior Legal Counsel and Head of Legal, you will provide legal advice and assistance on a wide range of issues that relate to the day-to-day operations of Knight Frank nationally. This will include risk management and mitigation, reviewing and drafting commercial agreements and litigation management. 

This is a unique opportunity for a talented lawyer who is looking to break into an in-house role and who is keen to work in a fast-paced commercial environment with exposure to a broad and diverse range of work, working closely with a highly experienced team who are keen to develop the skills of their newest member. 

Key responsibilities: 

• Providing advice on a wide range legal and regulatory issues relating to Knight Frank Australia's business.
• Drafting and reviewing commercial agreements.
• Assisting in drafting new forms of contract and changes to standard form contracts.
• Managing public liability claims.
• Identifying and managing legal risks in contracts, operations, and claims. 

Who are we looking for? 

• Completed Law degree with a strong academic record.
• At least one year post qualification experience in commercial law (gained in-house or in private practice).
• Admitted as a legal practitioner in Australia / hold a current practising certificate in the state of residence.
• Excellent written and verbal commination skills and legal drafting skills.
• Professional, positive and confident approach.
• A proactive “can - do” attitude and a sense of humour.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and escalations.
• Ability to provide pragmatic commercially focused legal support.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Attention to detail.
