About us:

At Knight Frank we're passionate about property, however, it takes more than passion to make us the world's most successful privately-owned property agency and consultancy firm.

With a 125-year heritage, we are part of a global property powerhouse dedicated to providing our clients with the best advice across commercial and residential property transactional and advisory services.

We champion a diverse and inclusive workplace, where people are encouraged to bring their whole selves to work, and we are proud to be the real estate industry's first WORK180 endorsed employer.

The role:

As a result of organic business growth in the last 12 months, we are expanding our legal team and looking for someone to join us based in our Canberra office.

Working with both the Senior Legal Counsel and Head of Legal, you will provide legal advice and assistance on a wide range of issues that relate to the day-to-day operations of Knight Frank nationally. This will include risk management and mitigation, reviewing and drafting commercial agreements and litigation management.

This is a unique opportunity for a talented lawyer who is looking to break into an in-house role and who is keen to work in a fast-paced commercial environment with exposure to a broad and diverse range of work, working closely with a highly experienced team who are keen to develop the skills of their newest member.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing advice on a wide range legal and regulatory issues relating to Knight Frank Australia's business.
  • Drafting and reviewing commercial agreements.
  • Assisting in drafting new forms of contract and changes to standard form contracts.
  • Managing public liability claims.
  • Identifying and managing legal risks in contracts, operations, and claims.

Who are we looking for?

  • Completed Law degree with a strong academic record.
  • At least one year post qualification experience in commercial law (gained in-house or in private practice).
  • Admitted as a legal practitioner in Australia / hold a current practising certificate in the state of residence.
  • Excellent written and verbal commination skills and legal drafting skills.
  • Professional, positive and confident approach.
  • A proactive “can - do” attitude and a sense of humour.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and escalations.
  • Ability to provide pragmatic commercially focused legal support.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Attention to detail.

What's in it for you?

  • Competitive remuneration package
  • Flexible working arrangements designed to suit individual circumstances and family needs
  • A generous 16-week parental scheme (including superannuation) for primary carers
  • Birthday and study leave
  • Two Wellness Days to allow you to focus on your own physical and or mental wellbeing
  • A workplace where you can purchase additional leave so you can take that extra break with family or friends
  • We applaud your need to give back to the community and give you 2 paid volunteer days each year to support one of our-affiliated charities
  • Because life can throw the unexpected at us, we help subsidise private health insurance excess, if you or an immediate family member requires hospitalisation

Join a team where individual uniqueness is celebrated, contribution is rewarded, and voices are respected and heard. A place where everyone has the chance to perform at their best.

Not the perfect fit? Apply anyway. You might have something we didn't realise we needed!

Applicants with Australian working rights need only apply.  No Agencies please.

Please note, if you are successful in securing a role, you will be subject to police checks as part of our standard recruitment process.
